As winter eases it's grip on us we all are getting stoked to ride this summer, right?
Thanks to
Bow Cycle a couple of us lucky Bownesians got to enroll in Specialized
own university....SBCU! Our
campus was Montreal and the home of Specialized
Canada! Our agenda was a couple of days of high
tech bike fitting with Josh from
Morgan Hills, California to start us off. Next was a couple more
days of product
info from Andrew who works in Montreal. Myself, Rosmo, Graeme and Brent were
accompanied by our new rep Barry Mah. Nothing better to get one stoked to ride
than check out
whizzy new bikes and techy gear!
Rosmo gets caught staring through the SBCU glass.
All four of us lucky dudes came away with our diplomas in the Specialized BG Fit
Program! Wow,
finally that elusive degree after all these years! Josh is the right
hand man to Andy Pruitt from
the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine in Colorado.
We all came away with the skills and formula to
properly fit people to their respective
bikes. Not only were we given the skills to accurately
assess riders flexibility but also
pin point any limitations that each persons physical structure
might present to the
bike fit itself. We all had some skills in bike fitting but these two days
blew us away
in terms of how much knowledge and skill we gained that we now can pass along
to our
customers to make their bikes fit better and in turn allow them to enjoy the
type of experience
that the are looking for on their bikes. We all see this as a huge
step forward for us at BowCycle
and hope people will give us a call to schedule a
bike fit! We are at the moment setting up a bike
fit program so stay tuned on that one.
Rosmo's ready to take up TT races.
Josh sets up a rider on a Specialized Tarmac.
As for the products we saw all the cool stuff and were taken through the entire line that
Specialized offers. I already love their saddles, grips, BG footbeds and gloves but picked
up some
awesome SWORKS mountain bike shoes and tires. I like their stuff alot and was
able to see how much
technology, testing and development go into each category and
how that translates into some of the
best stuff out there. Specialized shares a similar view
as us at Bow Cycle..."we can always improve
and do better" and that I think is a great
motto to keep in mind. As you can see in one of the photos Rosmo found a new friend in
one of Specialized aero
helmets....he won't be hard to spot on the bike path this summer...
says he's going to freeride with
it as well....anything for that extra bit of speed!
Just one more cup and then back to the books.
So after all the hard studying and exams the four of us hit the great town of Montreal
with some of
our other classmates from all over the country and had our own version
of a frat party or
whatever....lot's of fun but as usual we pushed the limits in true
