Flat Out High Speed Burn through Moab and Fruita!!

I think Moab has great riding and all….for jeeps and big off road trucks but Fruita Colorado is a way better place to ride in my opinion. I had the great chance to blast down for a late season rip down south of the border with Scott the Aussie and  Walter Socheck….aka Walter Styles. With our great exchange rate behind us we could afford all the espresso and hamburgers we could put down plus nice motels with cable TV and old school swimming pools to cool off in after the days ride.

We got in 6 solid days of riding including an epic night ride in Fruita to end the trip. In Moab I played tour guide for the the  rookies in attendance and used my years of basing out of the luxurious Lazy Lizard Hostel off US 191 as my credentials. I “guided” the boys on the classic Amasa Back /Hurrah Pass trail with the Jacob’s Ladder hike a bike to connect the two. The boys loved it! Also hit the new Jackson’s Trail after suffering up Jacobs where Scott nailed the wall ride exit section. SWEET! Also did our time on Porcupine Rim and Slickrock. This proved as a good warm up for what came next…..FRUITA!

This place blows old Moab out of the water. We hit Mary’s Loop, Lion’s ,Moore Fun Trail and the fun Rustler’s practice loop. Super fun stuff here. We crossed over to the Book Cliffs and had a flowy flow flow session on the Kessel Run, Chutes and Ladders and Joe’s and ones we don’t even remember the names of. Lot’s of berms, twisty stuff mixed with nice ridge lines and SPEED. I felt like a freerider or whatever “man that trail had so much flowy flow flow…..man I’d put flow on my corn flakes and in my coffee if I could…….”. So when next spring comes and you’re looking for an early season riding trip, yeah hit Moab for sure but head to Fruita and feel the flow! If anyone out there needs a guide just call Kurt @ 288-5422 ext. 202 and he will be happy to enlist yours truly to be your guide……hey that’s great customer service isn’t it!

Ciao

Kelly's Gear

Dudes here is my first impressions of the new '07 XTR......

I've had the pleasure of slapping the new XTR on my Scott Scale and it rocks. Things that I notice

most are the wheels first of all...these things are light and roll fast while tracking very straight.

Shifting is crisp and smooth as well. The brakes modulate well and I love the new levers for my small

hands.

The whole package has lightened my bike up from my SRAM setup by about 3/4 of a pound!

Check it out if you're wanting to upgrade you bike.
