Well, I guess that depends on how hard you stampede. I had a year where my challenge was to not to pay for food thereby saving my money for drinking. Well, with the abundance of Stampede breakfasts and lunches I knew I had invites to this was not an issue. But feeding on less than quality foods for 12 days can add to some weight gain.
So, post Stampede resolutions. Got one? now you do?
There are lots of things to do post Stampede! Don’t race – no problem, there are loads of great rides out there and some that you don’t need spandex for!
Legacy Trail – It seems to get busier all the time but still once you leave Canmore you wouldn’t know how many people there are. Bribe the youngsters with a treat and pack snacks!
Tour de l’Alberta – Alberta’s biggest one day celebration of Cycling, Community and Culture.
Iron Horse Trail – Explore northeast Alberta on an abandoned rail line which has been converted into 300 kilometres of continuous multi-use trails that pass through numerous communities and towns.
Calgary (Zoo-ish) to Chestermere – It will take some work but a great ride!
Highwood Pass – If you haven’t done it, take the opportunity! Start on either side and ride up to Canada’s highest paved pass.
Glenmore Park – With lots of places to start it is a great loop or just and out and back
Glenbow Ranch – Yep, just before Cochrane there is a great little Provincial park, well, not so little. In my experience, the bike is the best way to explore it (please obey the rules) because it is a huge area!
Whatever your pleasure, have a great time!VIEW MORE POSTS
